About
Dorian Duerinckx In Motion
Dorian Duerinckx is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, recording artist, producer, systems builder, and lifelong student of the strange machinery that connects music, technology, pain, discipline, and transformation.
His current work marks a deliberate transition from New Voodoo into the more direct artist identity of the Dorian Duerinckx band. New Voodoo was the forge: the dark creative environment where the sound, mythology, visual language, production habits, and emotional weight began taking shape. It carried the atmosphere, the ritual, the graveyard electricity, and the first version of the world. But the project has evolved into something more personal, more exposed, and more directly tied to the man behind it.
The Dorian Duerinckx band is built around Dorian's own writing, voice, guitar work, and production instincts. He writes the lyrics, sings the lead vocals, records most of the instruments, shapes the arrangements, and guides the overall sonic direction. The result is not a traditional band in the old sense, but a modern recording project with the heart of one: guitar-driven, emotionally heavy, cinematic, and deeply personal.
The sound moves through hard rock, dark blues, industrial weight, acoustic confession, progressive tension, and atmospheric storytelling. It is not designed to fit neatly into a genre box. It is built from pressure: the kind that breaks people, the kind that reforms them, and the kind that eventually becomes art.
Dorian's musical foundation was shaped by years of guitar obsession, recording experimentation, and a deep respect for players who could make the instrument speak with authority rather than simply display technique. His time at Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp placed him in the orbit of world-class musicians and mentors, including figures such as Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, Warren Haynes, and many others. That experience left a permanent mark. It reinforced what he already believed: the best players are not just technicians. They are translators of emotion, attitude, endurance, and identity.
That belief sits at the center of the Dorian Duerinckx sound. The guitar work is emotional first: melodic when it needs to bleed, heavy when it needs to hit, and restrained when silence says more than speed. His approach favors tension, phrasing, atmosphere, and impact over empty flash. Every song is treated like a scene. Every guitar part has to earn its place. Every vocal has to carry the weight of what the lyric is trying to survive.
The transition away from New Voodoo is not a rejection of what came before. It is a sharpening of focus. New Voodoo remains part of the DNA: the shadow, the mythology, the instinct for darkness and atmosphere. But under the Dorian Duerinckx name, the work becomes less masked and more human. The songs are no longer hiding behind a concept. They are stepping forward as direct statements of survival, grief, anger, love, memory, defiance, and the refusal to stay buried.
Before fully leaning into his own creative work, Dorian built a long career in operations, technology, systems design, and problem-solving. He spent more than two decades in the print manufacturing and business communications world, eventually serving in high-level operational leadership for a regional division connected to RR Donnelley. That background gave him a practical understanding of scale, workflow, production discipline, documentation, and how complex systems either succeed or collapse under pressure.
He later expanded that foundation through computer science, artificial intelligence, database work, automation, web development, and digital production. His background includes software development, AI prompting, agentic workflow design, systems documentation, and solution building. That technical side is not separate from the music. It is part of the engine.
Dorian approaches modern music production as both artist and architect. He handles the core recording, lyric writing, vocals, guitar work, bass, keyboards, drum programming, arrangement, production decisions, web presence, visual direction, and digital infrastructure behind the project. Guitars, voice, rhythm, atmosphere, sound design, and AI-assisted creative workflows all become part of the same working system. The result is music that feels handmade but technologically aware: dark, human, imperfect, deliberate, and built from the inside out.
The Dorian Duerinckx band is also shaped by survival. The songs come from loss, anger, addiction, grief, stubbornness, love, memory, and the hard truth that some people learn to turn damage into voltage. The "voodoo" that once defined the earlier project still exists, but now it functions less as a name and more as a metaphor for the unseen forces inside the music: pain, obsession, intuition, trauma, hunger, and the dangerous magic of still being here after everything that should have ended you.
Dorian's creative world extends beyond songs alone. His work connects music, visual storytelling, web design, AI tools, independent artist strategy, and the belief that musicians no longer have to wait for permission from labels, gatekeepers, or industry machinery. The project is part recording act, part personal archive, part digital studio, and part declaration of independence.
At its simplest, the Dorian Duerinckx band is dark guitar music made by a man who has lived through enough to know that sound can become a weapon, a confession, a ritual, and a way back.
What began as New Voodoo has become something more direct: Dorian Duerinckx, the voice, the guitar, the scars, and the machine behind the sound.
